AUTUMN IN NEW YORK / Ferit Odman
Equinox Music (2011)
Jazz / Türk caz
About Album
Turkish jazz drummer Ferit Odman has assembled a cast of dependable NYC veterans again for his second album.
Trumpeter Terell Stafford & Vincent Herring on alto-sax are backed by a great rhythm section consisting of Anthony Wonsey on piano, Peter Washington on bass and Ferit Odman on the drum-chair.
The leader keeps things surprising on this session with a selection of tunes by the likes of James Williams, Benny Golson, Cedar Walton and more..
The listener should expect a swinging hard-bop repertoire, plus two very beautiful ballads; Autumn in New York & My Ideal.
This new release was recorded in New York last autumn and it is a dedication to the late great pianist/composer James Williams.
